Wainscoting is the art of creating wall panelling, usually to the height of where a dado rail is normally installed. Wainscoting can be installed in various ways. With Orac products this is made easier by only requiring adhesives and a final coat of paint to finish.

Either apply directly to the wall or face the wall with a plywood surface. Plywood is preferable as it is more stable from shrinkage and expansion. Ensure before starting that the projection does not exceed existing skirting or door architrave. If this is the case mount the plywood behind. Wainscoting installation does require DIY skills and we would suggest a quality mitre box such as the FB13.

House Martin has many designs of mouldings suitable for wainscoting. These are listed on our Skirting and Architrave page and Dado and Panel Mouldings page.

Polyurethane products are extremely useful as exterior mouldings being impervious to moisture tough and dureable.
