Orac pilasters are a particularly useful match for exterior finishes, especially on properties featuring timber doors and windows. The front of a building will look infinitely smarter when all key components are decorated with one good quality gloss paint, rather than a variety of whites on pvc doors and windows,or grp surrounds. Our pilasters are often selected as an attractive compliment to a portico or canopy, where a detailing is required either side of an building entrance, in these instance they are often used in conjunction with our Full (360 degree) Columns.

Ready for immediate use: Orac Decor pilasters and pillars are available from stock for next day delivery. Plaster pilasters and pillars need to dry before installing; this can take up to two weeks. Wood pilasters and pillars need to be primed and undercoated. The glues used with Orac Decor cure quickly whereas plaster installation takes time to dry before finishing can commence.
Clean: Orac Decor pilasters and pillars only requires glue, perfect for refurbishment and new build projects. Plaster pilasters and pillars are dirty to install, creating considerable amounts of water and dust. Wood pilasters and pillars normally require nailing, filling the head dent and smoothing off. Refurbishments using plaster pilasters and pillars can be problematic and damage the existing infrastructure.
Easy to install pilasters and pillars: Orac Decor pilasters and pillars, due to their lightweight, only require glue to install. There is no need to pin as with plaster or wood pilasters and pillars. Fast finishing: Orac Decor pilasters and pillars are pre-primed ready for the chosen final coat of paint. Orac Décor pilasters and pillars have a smooth surface which does not absorb paint, so only the final coat is required. Plaster pilasters and pillars do not come primed and require sealing. Plaster pilasters and pillars are difficult to paint as they do not have a smooth surface. Importantly plaster pilasters and pillars absorb paint and up to three coats are required. Wood pilasters and pillars need to be knotted, primed and undercoated first.
Detailed design features: Traditional plaster pilasters and pillars moulds tend to produce rounded detail. The steel moulds used for Orac Decor pilasters and pillars are very detailed and precise. The repeated use of plaster pilasters and pillars moulds rounds the detail whereas with Orac Decor pilasters and pillars the detailing is consistent. Wood pilasters and pillars are limited in the designs that can be achieved.
Strong & shock resistant: Orac Decor pilasters and pillars are tough, hard and difficult to break. Plaster pilasters and pillars are easily broken and shattered. These issues are extremely relevant in both delivery and installation.
Developing cracks: Orac Decor 'Extra Fix' fuses the pilasters and pillars joints to produce strong joints. Plaster and wood pilasters and pillars joints move through drying and aging resulting in cracks in the pilasters and pillars lengths and joints.
Suitable in humid environments and exterior use: Orac Decor pilasters and pillars are impervious to moisture. Plaster and wood pilasters and pillars can take in moisture and so is less suitable for humid and exterior environments.
